The above Obituary is of my Mother who died in 2005. We published this in the Deseret News, and I printed this from the Deseret News online database. Obituaries are so helpful because they show the daughter’s married names if you are having a hard time locating a marriage record for them. It also gives information about their life which you could add to stories in Family Tree.
You can find obituaries on various websites like Ancestry.com. FamilySearch.org has some obituary indexes for some cities in California, Canada, and Illinois. The BYU Family History library website has a link to free online obituaries here. www3.sympatico.ca/bkinnon/obit_links.htm. This site includes Canadian and US obituaries. Make sure to scroll down this page as the first search box takes you to Ancestry.com.
Try to locate an obituary for one of your ancestors who lived in the 1900s. Let me know where you find the obituary, so we can share this with the other consultants.
